Advocacy in Virginia 2025

Each year, we compile and publish our Advocacy in Virginia report, which highlights the impact of our statewide network of sexual and domestic violence agencies. These reports provide a comprehensive look at the services delivered, the needs of survivors, and emerging trends in the movement to end sexual and domestic violence in the Commonwealth. By tracking this data, we help inform policy, guide funding decisions, and strengthen our collective advocacy for a Virginia where all people are safe, seen, and supported.

The Survivor Advocacy in Virginia 2025 report, our latest look at survivor and advocacy services in the Commonwealth, released July 13, 2026, documents a year of lifesaving work delivered under mounting financial strain. In 2025, Virginia’s 70+ Sexual and Domestic Violence Agencies served 27,898 adults and children, answered 70,136 hotline contacts, provided 229,020 nights of emergency shelter, and delivered 309,922 hours of crisis response and advocacy, even as federal VOCA funding fell by 54% since State Fiscal Year 2020.
